HEALING

I first heard of Brené while in a shelter with four children in 2013. The therapist sat me down and had me listen to her TED Talk and I cried. Vulnerability is a superpower — a strength — and a researcher was validating what I always knew. It was the first time I felt validated and heard.

I first read this book after coming out of a shelter with four children. It reminded me of one very simple truth — only you can change your life.

This book was recommended to me by my former therapist when I was going through my divorce. It’s a reminder to be in your bliss, trust life and know it’s all going to work out for your benefit.

This book helped me find myself as I walked away from a life-long religion, a 15-year marriage and returned to college at the age of 43. I reread her book again in 2019 and here I am.

I discovered Ariane’s book, “The First 30 Days” at the library when I was looking for something to help me recover from a very shaming experience. The information in this book got me well on my way to not only healing, but empowering me.

Debbie’s book was recommended by Dorothy McPhie – the Midwife of Waking Aphrodite – and it has supported my personal work with learning about and not just accepting, but celebrating that shadowy part which resides within. That process began in within the first page.

I thought Dannielle Bryan was going to tell me I would ruin my life after I told her my idea for Waking Aphrodite. Instead, she recommended I read “Big Magic.” The rest is history.

A friend introduced me to Louise L. Hay during her own crisis. It was 2004. Despite everything she was going through — she was optimistic, hopeful and happy. Not in denial. Speaking her truth with an unwavering expectation of a wonderful outcome. I got the book. A stranger once asked me for the synopsis in five words or less. I said, “You can heal your life.”
